Well, want to know what were up to here are some stories of the weeks

19th October 2006

Would you believe it - I got my ADSL and it works!!!!  aint that a surprise.... Have you ever pondered why we still stay in the South of Africa?  Read this article and then think again....

"Five Ivory Park would-be hijackers got more than they bargained for when they allegedly tried to rob a man of his car, North Rand police said on Tuesday.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said one of the five robbers had a pistol and instructed the driver to get out of his car on Sunday evening.

The 35-year-old man took his car keys, got out of his car and was able to push two of the four men away.

"He then ran towards the hijacker's car where he pulled out the driver and drove away to the Ivory Park police station and reported the matter," said Opperman.

After a short while, one of the five who had allegedly tried to hijack the man came to the police station to report his car stolen.

"By coincidence, a woman who was reporting a case of rape recognized the robber who had raped her earlier on Sunday," Opperman said.

The man was arrested at the scene while his four accomplices were arrested shortly afterwards. The five were charged with attempted armed robbery and rape and would appear in the Kempton Park's magistrate's court on Tuesday. "

Today I read some interesting news concerning telkoms ADSL so called service.  Below you will see an article on the new regulations imposed on them.  Even though these regulations are now set, it still means squat as my telkom monkeys will never follow them!!!!

As Telkom's ADSL becomes a bigger joke around the world, ICASA has been at work behind the scenes trying to craft ways to force Telkom to offer a service that somehow even remotely resembles something decent and internationally comparable.

The Good News:

1. Unlimited bandwidth within South Africa

2. No more bandwidth shaping

3. Guaranteed minimum speed

4. Maximum 30 day installation period

5. Static IP addresses

 The Bad News:

1-5. Telkom will most likely laugh it off.

The weekend is over - but it was a good weekend.  My parents in law gave us a stunning outside table.  So I went and collected it and installed the table.  This was actually hard work....  Installing things are not my calling in life, I prefer to be on the golf course, which reminds me.  We won again and this time the stakes were very high.  I cannot help to think that my luck is going to run out.  We cannot keep on winning????  Just hope when I start loosing its not for too much money.  But I do like the winning side of things.  Today I had a meeting talking about a whole new structure at the work.  I think this new structure will make everyone a bit happier - I will for sure as it directly impacts the pockets!!!!!  If all works out I could be in for 16 - 17 Pay checks at the end of the year.  Just think of how many golf games I could have with that>>>>>>  Sorry just think how many nappies I could buy with that (what was I thinking)  The lions actually won in the rugby - that was a big surprise.  Cannot imagine a win next week against the Sharks.

11 August

Im sure you are aware by now that it could be a bit difficult to go to London at the moment.  If you haven't read the news there are bomb scares on the flights going to the US.  The thing is my mom is over in England at the moment.  Hope you get back safely next week mom.  Last night I met my mate James Small.  Was good to have a chat to him.  He is now based back in Jhb.  I am seriously looking at the Audi for my next car.  Im tiered of these BMW's.  The one I like is the A4 2.0 FSI.  I have no idea what FSI means but I do know that it does 0 - 100 Kmph in 7.3 seconds.  Now thats pretty quick.  and I can fit my golf clubs in the boot without having to take out my woods etc.  Cleaver these Germans.....

I have just booked to go to Cape Town on the 9th September.  I am staying in Arebela.  This golf course is rated no 5 in South Africa so it should be good to hit a few balls there, plus have a few beers. http://www.arabellasheraton.co.za/  if you want to see.

Enough for today, Bulls vs the lions tomorrow should be a biggie.

10 August

Well yesterday was National woman's day in South Africa.  Now from the name you would think that it is a day to celebrate woman. (we do that every day already!) well I had to put everybody in their place yesterday as it is actually to remember when the woman protested outside the parliament in Pretoria about carrying passes back in those days.  Glad to see those days are gone.  We went to the botanical gardens yesterday and had a picnic in Roodepoort.  I have to say that it is actually a very beautiful place.  Old Ray wasn't himself though He was causing a bit of trouble, but eventually he enjoyed it.  a big locust decided that Ray was a good target and flew straight for him which was pretty funny but Ray didn't think so.......

Its back to work today and it feels like Monday!!!  At least it will be a short week.

Cheers for now enjoy the rest of the week

8 August

I have decided to redo this web site as I am starting to learn a bit more on how to design web sites.  It is a pain though as I don't know all the tricks yet so my spacing and junk are all out.  But I am learning so just be patient.  My golf is not that good at the moment but I seem to be taking money of the boys so they are a bit grumpy at the moment.  It all comes down to concentration I think - because when I need to play well on a specific hole I can make a birdie and take all the money.  So I have to now work on consistency and will get back to an 8 handicap (currently 9)

The family is good Ray is enjoying his school and Nicola is starting to sleep through the night (Yee Haa).  Liz has started work again so it back to the grindstone.  Work for me - well its going.  Just have to stick to it I suppose.  If I learn enough of this wed design stuff it could be a good option to get out but we will see.  Not in the near future I suppose.

Anyway let me see if this website now works.......

Bye for now  Dave
